So I have been doing a bit of reading on your website and have a few questions:

a) It's not that easy to contact you from your main website I can't seem to find an email address or phone number had to go to facebook to find this email address

b) I'm looking at either the Nexus 12 or the Nova 12 tents

c) As the price is the same I'm trying to understand the real differences between the two models

d) From size and dimension they seem very similar

e) I understand the Nova is the Premium tent however when I read the descriptions of water resistance and design both models boast the same features

CORRECT, THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS IN REGARDS TO THE DESIGN OF EACH MODEL 

f) I also understand the Nova uses standard 1/2" PVC pipe and the custom CEC fittings

MATERIALS AND DESIGN:

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THAT THE PREMIUM GRADE MODELS USE A STANDARDIZED POLE SYSTEM THAT IS EASIER TO SET UP, LAST LONGER AND EASIER TO REPLACE IF NEED BE 

g) It appears that the Nova is is a bit heavier (including all the parts)

j) I'm looking to use the tent for 3-5 summer camping trips in Ontario, Canada dealing primarily with rain as the primary weather obstacle

k) Is there a comparison chart or description on the difference between the two

l) As I'm in Canada is a there a local retailer or Canadian partner to purchase the tent or do I need to by direct (just concerned about the duties at shipment)

o) I thought I read that only the rooms that are required need to be used does that mean the tent can be smaller if you only require less space

Welcome to this first post to the CEC Blog

The Camping Equipment Company is a small, family run supplier of camping equipment - We specialize in tents that range in size from single, 1kg back packing tents to HUGE 10+ person family camping tents with sales all across North America, Europe and Australia

We also offer an assortment of camping accessories such as sleeping bags, mattresses and duffle bags.

Experimentation is one of the key differences that sets us apart from other suppliers in that we like to improve on successful tent designs and we get a lot of feedback from customers about what they like about our tents and what features they want.

This not only includes functional and practical designs at affordable prices, but also secure packaging, easy to follow assembly instructions and improved product performance.

The image to the left helps demonstrate our efforts to product improvement in the area of water resistance testing - we set up an outdoor sprinkler system to simulate varying degrees of rain intensity.

We then set up a tent under the system and observed the results. Firstly, we can test the water column of the fabric and how well the seam taping holds up against directed, pressurized water. Secondly, in some cases we noticed that water pooled on top of the rain fly and therefore we modified all production models to have a steeper roof pitch to ensure that the rain fly shed more of the water.

Customer Service is an ongoing process and we are working hard to ensure our customer's satisfaction by offering more flexible policies. After all, there is no point in offering a great product if you can't back it up with an equally great after sales support service.
