Nova vs Nexus 12 Person Tents: Customer Questions and CEC Answers

Nexus 12 Person tent: 10% off code: loyalty
So I have been doing a bit of reading on your website and have a few questions:

CONTACTING CEC:

a) It's not that easy to contact you from your main website I can't seem to find an email address or phone number had to go to facebook to find this email address
YOU CAN ALWAYS SEND YOUR INQUIRIES TO US VIA OUR CONTACT PAGE

NOVA VS NEXUS:

b) I'm looking at either the Nexus 12 or the Nova 12 tents
c) As the price is the same I'm trying to understand the real differences between the two models

SIZE VARIATIONS BTWN EACH MODEL

d) From size and dimension they seem very similar
e) I understand the Nova is the Premium tent however when I read the descriptions of water resistance and design both models boast the same features
CORRECT, THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS IN REGARDS TO THE DESIGN OF EACH MODEL

f) I also understand the Nova uses standard 1/2" PVC pipe and the custom CEC fittings

MATERIALS AND DESIGN:
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THAT THE PREMIUM GRADE MODELS USE A STANDARDIZED POLE SYSTEM THAT IS EASIER TO SET UP, LAST LONGER AND EASIER TO REPLACE IF NEED BE

g) It appears that the Nova is is a bit heavier (including all the parts)
Nova 12 person tent: the UPGRADED version of the Nexus
h) Does the Nova have one or two bags for all the parts

PARTS INCLUDED:
EVERY TENT COMES WITH A CARRY BAG FOR THE TENT AND A SEPARATE BAG FOR THE POLES

i) Which of the two Nova vs. Nexus is easier to setup tear down

ASSEMBLY:
ROUGHLY THE SAME, IF ANYTHING THE NOVA IS A LITTLE EASIER

j) I'm looking to use the tent for 3-5 summer camping trips in Ontario, Canada dealing primarily with rain as the primary weather obstacle
IF WATERPROOFNESS IS A PRIMARY CONCERN, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THE NOVA WITH ITS FULLY SEWN IN TUB STYLE GROUND SHEET

k) Is there a comparison chart or description on the difference between the two
l) As I'm in Canada is a there a local retailer or Canadian partner to purchase the tent or do I need to by direct (just concerned about the duties at shipment)

SHIPPING:
WE DON'T HAVE A CANADA BASED DISTRIBUTOR SO IT WOULD COME DIRECTLY FROM OUR WAREHOUSE IN WASHINGTON STATE -

HOWEVER, IN THIS CASE, WE COULD POSSIBLY CLEAR IT TO CANADA ON THIS SIDE AND SHIP VIA PUROLATOR GROUND TO YOU WHICH WOULD BE APPROX USD$150.00 FOR SHIPPING AND HANDLING INCLUDING CLEARING THIS FROM OUR WAREHOUSE IN WASHINGTON ACROSS THE BORDER TO CANADA - REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A HUGE, HEAVY TENT IN 2 PARCELS COMING FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CONTINENT STRAIGHT TO YOUR RESIDENTIAL SHIPPING ADDRESS

SHIPPING EITHER ITEM FROM THE WEST COAST IN WASHINGTON ACROSS THE BORDER TO THE OTHER SIDE IN ONTARIO WOULD OTHERWISE COST APPROX USD$500

m) Do you have any sales discounts or special offers on either of these units or shipping to Canada?
n) I understand the flooring can be removed is this the case for both units and is it just the main central area or each individual room/pod

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
IN THE CASE OF THE NEXUS, THERE IS A REMOVABLE GROUND SHEET THAT IS SEPARATE TO THE INNER SLEEPING TENTS THAT COVERS ONLY THE CENTRAL AREA OF THE INSIDE OF THE TENT

IN THE CASE OF THE NOVA THE FLOOR IS FULLY SEWN IN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE TENT - IN ADDITION EACH INNER SLEEPING TENT HAS ITS OWN FULLY SEWN IN TUB STYLE FLOOR SO WHEN YOU INSTALL THAT COMPONENT, YOU HAVE A 2 LAYER FLOOR IN THE SLEEPING AREAS - 1 LAYER FLOOR IN THE CENTRAL NON-SLEEPING AREA

Axis and Zulu Modular tent: 10% off CODE: loyalty
o) I thought I read that only the rooms that are required need to be used does that mean the tent can be smaller if you only require less space
YOUR DESCRIPTION IS MORE APPROPRIATE FOR OUR MODULAR TENTS WHERE IN THE CASE OF THE NEXUS, REMOVING THE INNER SLEEPING TENT LEAVES AND OPEN AREA UNDER THE RAIN FLY WITH THE GROUND EXPOSED (OTHERWISE COVERED BY THE INNER TENT FLOOR) AND IN THE CASE OF THE NOVA, A LARGE COVERED AND FLOORED AREA

p) Relating to the last question are these tents modular

MODULAR TENTS:
NO BUT IF THAT IS SOMETHING YOU WANT TO CONSIDER, THEN PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE MODULAR TENT PAGE

q) What are the customs duties to Ontario Canada
AS WE CAN CLEAR THE ITEM THROUGH TO CANADA AND THEN SHIP NATIONALLY, YOU WON'T HAVE TO PAY THE IMPORT DUTIES

I'm happy to have a conversation if that would be easier thank for your help...
HOPE THAT ANSWERS ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS OR WISH FOR A REP TO CALL YOU BACK

I have several questions about the Axis screen house.
1. I have concerns about fiberglass poles. Can you please tell me more about your fiberglass poles? Have there been any issues with them with other customers?
No issues with the fiber glass poles from other customers - so far, people who purchased the tent, love it
On exactly what support part of the tent are they located?
The fiber glass poles support the upper roof area of the tent

2. The height of the tent is 9ft. Have you had any reports from other customers about wind related issues with a tent of this height?
None at all, if you follow the assembly instructions and use all the guy ropes and tent stakes to set up the tent, you shouldn't have any issues with the wind

That said, CEC tents are intended for 3 season family camping use and not for extreme weather conditions

3. Is the zippered screen/flap all one unit?
Yes it is, there is a built in mesh vent for air circulation and full fabric zippered doors to keep out the sun and rain

4. Is the velcro removable floor fully velcroed on all sides, and lengths of the floor?
Yes the Velcro fasteners attach all sides of the floor to the tent and run on all points

That should do it for now. Thanks you, Brandy Persson

Broken or damaged tent poles - a brief commentary

Tent poles are possibly the most temperamental part of any tent and many tent companies will not extend their product guarantee to cover the tent poles

As a rule of thumb, you get what you pay for and if you are serious about camping or serious about getting decent quality in a camping related product, it's better to purchase a decent quality item from a company that specializes in camping related products

Patching a tent pole together will only get you so far and depends on the nature of the damage but don't expect to get 100% function out of it - consider it a temporary quick fix solution until you can get something more permanent

A lot of it also depends on the style of tent you have eg a simple a-frame or pup style tent is far easier to assemble with improvised parts than a complex geodesic dome
