Originally, we used the smaller steel "pin" stakes throughout
However, we recently upgraded the tent to use the larger and more secure ABS stakes (see item desc) for the main corners of the tent structure which provide a much more secure structure
After some testing, we discovered that when dealing with larger family tents, especially after strong winds, rain and in some cases piles of snow, larger stakes work better to secure the main corners of the tent while smaller steel stakes are suitable for the guy lines
